Abstract
Semiotics is concerned with the search for meaning, so it is not only limited to the study of linguistic signs but also includes the study of non-linguistic iconic signs; as they, too, are not devoid of meanings and connotations that need to be extrapolated or revealed. Hence, this research examines the relationship between the title and the image and compares them by adopting a semiotic approach to identify their importance and status in children’s stories and interpret their connotations and functions. This research thus sheds light on the interactive dialectic relationship that combines both of these two signs as a way to understand texts through selected stories.
