Abstract

The research tries to unravel the tie of the Al-Moallaqat (long outstanding poems) to the Malhamah (epic) which seduced scholars of ancient languages, researchers of mythology and arts. Such a relationship deeply affected the ancient civilization and has become an intellectual treasure.

The research supposes that the echo of this epic reached the Arabs who have language and strain links with the peoples of Mesopotamia because there were no obstacles that impeded that reach. A good example of that is the presence of Zulkarnain (Dhu’l-Qarneyen) story in al-Jahiliyya (pre-Islam era) memory and the appearance of the epic in today’s some poem and in al-Jahiliyya’s general poem.

Since the effects of the epic are present in the thoughts and poems of al-Jahiliyya people, it ought to be clear in the cream of the crop of their poems, al-Mo‛allaqat. This is what the following pages reiterate
