Abstract
In this article, the author deals with the gradual development of medieval Islam endowment institution. Since its early emergence until its final formation, the endowment issue witnessed a package of vocabularies and technical terms, which necessarily reflects the functional changes that occurred and influenced the socio- economic role of this institution. The author then turns to the administrative aspect especially during the periods when the central government fell into decay, showing how the ruling circles were involved in administrative corruption which led to a total corruption including expropriation, illegal possession and fraudulent sale
