Reading among Arab women in Israel

Abstract

This article addresses the issue of reading and reading for pleasure among Arab
women and mothers in the Arab community in Israel because of its importance and
subsequent impact on instilling the culture of reading among children. This
research aims to shed light on the reality of reading among married women in the
Arab society in Israel. The research also addresses the reading media as well as the
extent of women's satisfaction as far as the content and media are concerned. The
research methodology is based on quantitative research through the construction of
a questionnaire specially designed for the purpose of the study. The study included
90 Arab woman from the center area in the country. Research results indicate that
there is a relationship between the different ages and the media chosen (Internet or
hard copy books). There is also a relationship between the level of education and
the areas of reading.
