Abstract

Families are the core of human societies. Therefore, Islamic verdicts, which relate to family issues like marriage, divorce, heritage, breast-feeding, are all worthy subjects. They require one’s full attention.  Breast-feeding is a particularly sensitive subject, whose rulings affect the genealogy and the various family ties of a certain society. This entails that the various aspects of this subject are dealt with most meticulously. Milk Banks have been thoroughly researched lately, generating myriad opinions. Islamic jurisprudents felt the urgency of recruiting their energy and efforts to provide the soundest verdicts regarding this particularly sensitive issue. This research is the fruit of earnest efforts to provide a clear and frank opinion about breast-feeding. The research relies on previous studies and opinions about this subject. Divided into four major parts, the research includes an introduction, three areas of research and a concluding statement. The first area of research deals with the advantages of natural breast-feeding and the way it differs from artificial milk. Establishing milk banks is discussed in the second area of research. The third area of research presents the opinions of the various scholars who have already dealt with the subject,  showing my lenience towards some opinions. The final section includes some findings and recommendations.
