Abstract

Learned helplessness is considered one of the popular phenomena in psychology in the last four decades. This concept deals with cognitive, motivational and emotional disturbances that develop as a result of organism's exposure to uncontrollable situation.

Many significant variables have been proposed as important to explain this phenomenon among human. Several variables had high correlation with this concept, variables like, burnout, stress, anxiety and cognitive orientation. The current research attempts to explore the relation between special education teacher's involvement in school decision-making and learned helplessness level, with consideration of sex and seniority teaching as background variables. The importance of this research comes from the concentration on important variables that had correlations with concepts that interfere with the progress of the educational system like stress and burnout among teachers. The expectation  is that the findings of this research will propose applicable solutions and recommendations.

The findings support the research hypotheses that expect negative correlation between the two concepts, and there were significant effect of the sex and seniority. These findings are in line with previous findings in this domain. The research conclusions concentrate on improving the teacher involvement in school decision making in order to improve their self being and their work efficacy.
