Abstract
This paper studies “replacement” in Arabic in terms of meaning and perception. To this end, it seeks to explain the philosophy of “replacement” as perceived by Arab linguists and grammarians. In spite of the fact that this philosophy appears different, it is capable of opening new perspectives or areas for research and study compatible with the nature of Arabic language, on the one hand, and the need of the Arabic language and its speakers to adjust to cultural changes, on the other. This paper concludes that “replacement” is effective both in terms of perception and behavior. Furthermore, it plays a vital role in the development of Arabic language, its diverse usage, keeping up with new events and facing challenges and transformations
