Abstract
Through researching the role of the narrator, this study deals with the time relationship between narration and story, the levels of narration, types of narrators, and the signs that indicate the existence of the narrator through its obligatory and optional functions and discusses its credibility. It also deals with the aspect of focalization resulting from its relationship with narration, though focalization and narration are basically two different operations. It adopts the approach of dividing focalization into subtypes: the external one that is done by the narrator, and the internal one that is done by the character.
