Abstract
The emergence of Arabic grammar was associated with different factors that aimed at recording special rules for the Arabic language. Perhaps the most important of these factors was the preserving the sanctity of the holy Quran from errors which began to spread remarkably, particularly after the entry of non-Arabs to Islam. Ancient grammarians considered this factor as a threat that may displace Arabic from its strait course.
On the other hand, the modern grammarians are divided into two groups: one attached to the classical teaching of grammar as a result of their concern about the future of Arabic and the loss of its ancient fame, while the other group, who was affected by several factors that were influenced by Western grammar, called for a reform in Arabic grammar
