Abstract

This article deals with the weakening processs of the extended family – Hamula – in the Arab sector in Israel.

It concentrates on the results of the change and its implications rather than on the function and the position of this Hamula.

The article criticizes the “delibrate change” and its irrelevance to the Arab culture and the social reality which caused the desfunctioning of the hamola. For the discussion a number of topics were chosen: The weak role of the muchtar, the lead of the Hamola, the development of the village and the Hamula … etc.
