Abstract

The rare and amusing lteray stories about the “Moqdeem” and the stingy, which appear in the literature of the Maqamat reflect certain social and economic perspectives which characterize the  ‘Abasi period. This type of literary research receives a particular attention because of its artistic and human value. There is a similarity between the literature of the the stories of the “Kavtsaneem” (subordinate) and the stories of the “Moqdeem”. Similar traits exist in the character of the hero and the subject in which he deals. The subordinate and the “Moqdeem” display a wide knowledge in the legal sciences and the Qur’an , expressing their opinions in “Militseet” manner , proverbs and “Hahagoot”

Both characters seem to disguise at the beginning of the story sometimes, but they reveal their true identity towards the end of the story. Both characters seem to deal with adventures and miracles or with tricks and stratagems. The Moqdee suggests to others to foloow in his footsteps, to become stingy, while the subordinate or the “Qavtsan” advises them to emulate the Qavtsaneem.
