Abstract
Arab linguists have always investigated sociolinguistics in many of their literary products. Among these linguistics was Khalil bin Ahmed alFaraaheedi; as he stands to be an important basis for the linguistic studies of Arabic language.
Al-Faraaheedi was interested in the morphological structures and the social phenomena that influences them. He was also interested in the study of the diglossic nature of Arabic language and its different dialects Al-Faraheedi was also interested in semantic studies, as Arab linguists at the time were familiar with semantic studies; however, they did not refer to them with the same terminology used by modern linguists today.
Based on the above, the semantic sociolinguistic studies are regarded as an indicator of what is going on at anytime and/or any place. Through these studies, we discover the reason behind the existence of a certain utterance in a certain tribe for example. This is due to the fact that social language studies reveal information about the emergence of langugaes through time, and how different languages influence each other
