תקציר

This paper attempts to shed light upon the complexity of the Israel-Palestine case with regard to the role of civic education in peace building efforts and the construction of a climate of mutual respect and acceptance. To capture this complexity, this article is organized in two parts, each focusing on a different context of the Israel-Palestine case. In the first part, I will focus on the peace building education efforts between Israelis and Palestinians from the Occupied Territories of 1967. In the second part, I will discuss civic education in the context of the Arab-Jewish relationships inside Israel, focusing on Palestinians who are citizens of Israel. In doing so, this paper points to the difficulties that face policy makers and practitioners in the field of peace building education in the two context mentioned.
