Abstract

Salim Jubran (1941-2011) is a poet, writer and journalist who lived in Nazareth,
and was one of the most famous Arab writers in Israel. His poetry and prose
writings reveal his “philosophy” and beliefs as well as attitudes towards the Arab
society in Israel in poetry and prose. Salim was a Marxist who apprehended the
meanings of struggle, change and revolutionary aspirations. These meanings were
manifested in the magazines he edited. This article discusses Salem's dreams,
visions and leading thoughts that relate to democracy, pluralism, modernism and
openness. Salim advocated translations among languages to simplify contact with
the wide world and to accept the new civilization with its manifestations. Salim
Jubran's views, opinions and thoughts in his writings are explored in this article.
