Abstract

This article deals with unemployment as a dangerous socio-economic problem in the Arab sector in Israel. Since the establishment of the state of Israel the phenomenon of unemployment has been spreading in the Arab sector at a higher rate than that in the Jewish sector. The article will attempt to clarify and understand the underlying reasons for this phenomenon.  It will show how minorities have become dependent economically on the majority. The implications of unemployment on the Arab sector are presented and dealt with objectively, taking into consideration the fact that that the family is an organization which can withstand economic and social crises. Therefore, the article will relate to the various strategies used by the Arab family to face unemployment. The discussion reveals that the Arab family deserves real consideration from the government, in order to be able to survive such a chronic problem.
