Abstract

Hadiths which are attributed to Prophet Mohammad, Peace be upon him, are not all on the same level. Some can be directly related to him, and such Hadiths are the true and the good Hadiths, while others suffer from an unverified chain of; these Hadiths are the weak types, among which are the invented and fake ones. This in-depth study, which is presented serially, aims at knowing those Hadiths according to scientific rules. This research is categorized under what is known as “the science of Hadith terminology”. In my previous article No.5, I have shown that the Hadith is of two types a- acceptable which is true and good, which I have defined and given examples about before, and b- the rejected, which is the weak type in all its varieties.   I have introduced one type. Its weakness is ascribed to some missing links in the chain of ascription.

This type of weak Hadith is called the “Mu’alaq”. In this article- God willing- we will introduce three other types of weak Hadith, due to weak chains of ascription.

These are: Al-Munqati’, Al-Mu’dil and Al-Mursal. We will delay discussing the Mudalas and Al-Mursal El-Khafi to the next paper.
