Abstract

This study aims at clarifying the relationship between domestic violence and
the aggressive behavior of teenage boys in the private and governmental high
schools in the province of Bethlehem, as one of the provinces that combine the
sects of the Palestinian society together. The study, moreover, aims at examining
the relation between the aggressive behavior of the boys with variables concerning
the number of wives a father has, self-esteem, and the level of religiosity as these
variables seriously affect the boys. The quantitative approach with its descriptive
and inferential parts was applied for its suitability for this type of studies. The
sample consisted of 1174 students from 16 schools distributed between the villages
and cities of Bethlehem; it reached the rate of (% 18.8) of the research community.
A questionnaire was designed and prepared for the purpose of the current study.
The results indicate that there is a significant statistical relationship between
violence within the family, and the aggressive behavior of the boys. The results
also indicate that the aggressive behavior of the boys may be related to the number
of wives a father has, self-esteem, and the level of religiosity they have. 107-140
