The Role of the Technology Coordinator in the School

Abstract

The role of the technology (computer) coordinator (facilitator) in the school
is a comprehensive and complex one. It develops and changes continuously.
Therefore, this article attempts to emphasize the importance of appointing
and defining various roles in the school in general and the importance of the
technology coordinator role in specific. Furthermore, we detail the definition
of such a role and describe it thoroughly regarding the schools in our country
and in the United States. We present models describing ways of action for
the technology coordinator and his relationship with the school teachers and
the technology leader (mentor) responsible for his region. We also point out
sources and tools that can help the technology coordinator in understanding
the nature of his role as accelerator of change in teaching/learning methods,
proceeding his professional development and following the innovations that
can affect the ways in which he fulfill his role.
