Abstract

One of the primarily goals of all phases of teaching is to foster students’
thinking. Teaching thinking skills is therefore a great challenge in the era of
communication technologies and information.
The rapid increasing number of online learning courses at universities and
colleges is currently considered an integral part of this trend. Fostering students’
thinking through eLearning courses requires development of two levels: the level
of constantly evolving technologies and the pedagogical level of adequately using
of these technologies. An example of this challenging development of eLearning
courses is the example of implementing the Moodle Platform eLearning System at
Al-Qasemi College.
Teaching thinking skills through this platform requires teachers and educators
in colleges to upgrade their teaching approaches in order to make students fostering
the necessary thinking skills. They should not be conservative and keep with
traditional eLearning schooling. This task of upgrading-the role of the teacher to
achieve this goal is, however, not easy. It requires an appropriate adjustment to the
evolving technologies and demands a deep understanding of the pedagogy of
teaching thinking.
