Abstract
This study aims at analyzing and evaluating the instructional science activities according
to style (demonstration, trips, observations and other things), and type (instructional,
reinforced and richness) of activities contained in through science textbook for ninth grade,
as indicated by the general goals of science teaching in the basic stage in Palestine.
The sample of study is the population itself and consists of (85) instructional science
activities. The science instructional activities are analyzed by content analysis for the
purpose of this study. The percentage agreement between the two referees who has
analyzed the activities was 90%.
The findings of the study show that the percentage of the reinforced activities and
richness activities analyzed according to style and type is not consistent with what the
referees propose, whereas the percentage of the instructional activities meshes very well
with the percentage proposed by the referees. Moreover, according to the activity pattern,
the practical proposals of the activity patterns were dominant, in contrast to others.
Given the results drawn, the study recommends that the formulators of the curriculum
should focus on the activity patterns, types of activity and distribute them in the science
learning activities of the general sciences textbook in the ninth grade in the elementary
learning stage in Palestine.
