Abstract
The article suggests that the field of teaching thinking is a theoretical success
but a practical failure. The failure is predictable since the school structure
was built for authoritative teaching and rote learning; it was not built for the
teaching of thinking. If we want to turn the school into "home for the mind",
we should rebuild it. In a "thinking school" the pattern of teaching, the mode
of learning, the method of evaluating, the structure of curriculum, the
organizational structure and the educational climate are completely different
from those of the traditional ("non-thinking") school.
