Abstract

This Study evolves around a comparison between the letter of Ibn Shahid’s – the Andulasian – “Zawabi and Tawabi” and the Maqamat of The Jewish poet Yihuda El Harizi who collected his letters in a book under the title  of “Tahkumoni”.

Both poets dealt with the criteria relevant to the judgment and evaluation of good poetry and a good poet.

The study also discusses the significance of El-Harizi’s book that basically evokes El-Hariri’s maqamat book.

It can be inferred from the study, that the genre of maqamat can be perceived as closer to the genre of letter and that is to make it more accessible to readers.

Both the letter and the maqamah share which include: the hero, narrator, plot and style. The differences between the two are almost trivial.
